A lone traveller walking a moonlit road toward the tavern

The world of JUMAK · Joseon Outsiders

Every road below
the pass ends here.

A roadside tavern, one innkeeper, and the 5,000 outsiders who drink there.

The door

One tavern below the mountain pass, one door. It opens for anyone soaked enough to knock. No names asked — the ones you walked in with stay out in the rain.

Bandits around a tavern table
II

One table

The wanted and the hunted share one table tonight. They trust liquor over blades and aliases over names. Old grudges wait outside with the horses.

III

The innkeeper

She owns the place. She never forgets a face and never misses an unpaid tab. A new name will not help you.

IV

The tab

Every cup goes in the ledger. Some tabs are longer than the bandit who owes them. The week's regulars make the list — the innkeeper reads it out loud.

A wall covered in wanted posters
V

The wanted wall

Every day a suspect is dragged in and the guests write his charge. The sharpest charge goes on the poster, and the guest who wrote it goes on the wall.

Blades by the chair

5,000 SANJEOK, one face each at 32×32. Gat and tiger skulls, gold teeth and monocles — Joseon gear mixed with things from far-off lands. Whatever they carry, it leans by the chair.

VII · The armory

Seven blades, 5,000 hands.

Every SANJEOK carries one. Some are rarer than others.
